Herd Report

Welcome...

Buck

Our team of Auburn University researchers constructed the Deer Lab, a 430 acre high fence enclosure near Camp Hill, AL, in an effort to answer the difficult questions related to white-tailed deer research and management that cannot be addressed in conventional study areas. Our goal for the lab is to develop a unique research environment where we have the ability to gain intimate knowledge of each individual in the herd throughout their entire life while also maintaining “natural” behavior.  The “middle ground” between free-ranging and captive populations provided by the lab will allow us to gather extensive long term data and will yield invaluable new insight to the biology and behavior of deer.

Our website is the primary source for news and information about the Deer Lab.  Check back with us frequently to learn more about current projects, publications and upcoming events.  We’ll also regularly update the photo gallery so you can get a firsthand look at what’s going on at the lab.

Please contact us for more information about Deer Lab and to learn how you can support our research.
